Langston Hughes, amerykański poeta, powieściopisarz, autor sztuk scenicznych i felietonista, urodzony 1 lutego 1902 roku w Joplin w stanie Missouri, zmarł 22 maja 1967 roku w Nowym Jorku.
Langston Hughes był gejem, ale nigdy nie zdecydował się otwarcie mówić o swojej orientacji.[1] Studiował na Columbia University i Lincoln University of Pennsylvania. Tłumaczył m.in. twórczość Federico Garcia Lorca. W 1989 roku powstał film biograficzny Looking for Langston w reżyserii Isaaca Juliena opowiadający o życiu Hughesa.
